My parents asked me at one point about somebody I was working with, and I gave the answer,

oh, yeah, he's a very competent surgeon. And my parents, like, freaked out. They're like a

competent surgeon. Like, competent was to them, like, I don't want a competent surgeon. I want

a really good surgeon. And we had to have this whole conversation about, like, yeah, the bar for competence is

phenomenally high here.

And so all of us are competent surgeons.

You know, there are a few, like, exceptions on either side of that bar that really exceed

But to be board certified or whatever, to be out in practice, to finish, like, that bar is

And so when I say competent, I mean, yeah, damn good, like good enough to be out there doing

And that's also satisfying, right?
