Talking about their lives, careers, successes and failures. My name is David Jacoby and my dilemma is I feel obligated

to watch more sports than I possibly can.

Okay, so here's the thing as the comish it is my duty to help people with their problems and his problem is one that is common to everybody in sports media, which is there are too many games, too many events and too many storylines to keep up with at all times.

And yet at any moment one of those things could come up on a show that you're on and you would be required to be an expert on it. Now, because my number one job is to help him with this problem.

That requires me to give away a company secret and industry wide secret a life secret in fact, which is that anyone who's really good at their job is probably good at it because of the usual things hard work preparation, etc.

But also BS and unfortunately there is a segment of this job that requires you to be great at BS, which is to say that if in Jacoby's case he really wants to watch

Vanderpump rules or in mine, I really want to catch the latest top chef or project runway and we choose that over the game we should be watching.

Then we just need to put all of our powers of BS together and read a recap watch some highlights check out sports center listen to another show and how they talked about it and combine to create some takes that make it sound as though we've actually watched.

Now you guys are mostly fans of Levitard show us two guts so you already know how this works because two guts very often says I watch the game only trivial later that he absolutely didn't watch it and all of those takes were totally manufactured

from the couple together takes of others so I don't know if it's so much a problem as it is a minor hiccup a little speed bump on route to the success that David Jacoby is already enjoying so your dilemma is in fact that people demand of you more television sports watching than you have time for.

And the solution is you got it all figured out you're doing all right one end out pivot to another conversation and something you did watch and you do know something about.

And no one will be the wiser the commission has spoken.

This week's guest is David Jacoby he's a producer and talent at ESPN the co host of Jalen and Jacoby one of the producers of always late with Katie Nolan and has a very long long career at ESPN first joined in 1999.

We talk about his unique combination of passion and laziness a one day internship at MTV how he spent basically his entire adult life working from ESPN.

Doing everything from messing up payroll to working behind the scenes to being on camera.

We get into his ingenious idea to improve social interactions or I guess I should say limit them and also talk about nipples.

It was a really fun conversation I don't really know Jacoby and I have been wanting to kind of get to know him and understand a little bit more about how we got where he is so I really really enjoyed it.
