We were both athletes, you know,

we were better than most in the room. We were both

better than most in the room growing up. It weren't Bo Jackson type athletes but we were better than most.

So we had athletics college shift opportunities out of high school but we were going to serve the military because that's what every male and our family on both my mom's side and my dad's side did. So we already knew that going into it. I go down to the recruiting station and high school my

senior year. A guy goes to give me a spill on the military. I said I'm not here to get a sales pitch. I'm here to sign up. And that's just what we did. We had to serve our nation and before we could serve ourselves afterwards.

Our brother and I both served on the Gulf War.

He was an 82nd Airborne on 307 combat Airborne Engineer.

I was a black helicopter crew chief door gunner and proud to serve, proud to do what I did.

It helped pay for my college afterwards, pay for my brothers college afterwards and you know a lot of people don't realize how good the military creates things for certain people.

So again, I served overseas.

I was stationed in Germany after the first Gulf War and I got to experience Europe through the eyes of at the end of the Cold War when the Berlin Wall was going down and to see that aspect of it to experience veterans of World War II that were you

know from Germany and such that we're still living at the time and I was proud to contribute to say that I served in the military, proud to do what my father did, my grandfather did, my uncles did. And you know it's and I'm glad that my dad had

that instilled in my head. My brother said to serve. My brother's now the chief operating officer of Texas First Bank out in Texas City.

And I just recently retired as a federal agent after 30-something years and I've been a public servant my whole life and it's made me a

better person for that and I my hat goes off to everybody who served in one capacity or not, whether it's military or

any other public service sector that truly cares about what they were doing and did because it makes a difference.
