I'm your host, retired NYPD, Sergeant Bill Cannon, a 27-year veteran of the NYPD.

We're hearing now some actual goings-on in the Rex Newman case out on Long Island, who is commonly believed to be, has been arrested for and charged with the Gilgo Beach serial killers.

And so far he has been charged with seven of the victims.

Megan Waterman, Melissa Bartellame, Amber Costello,

Maureen Brenard Barnes, Sandra Castilla, Jessica Taylor, and Valerie Mack.

And apparently, another blockbuster decision by the judge, Judge Timothy Mazay,

is that all seven cases will be tried at once.

So there will not be separate trials for each victim.

All seven of them will be tried at one time.

And what is the blockbuster evidence in this case?

And of course, I would argue that there's a lot of it, but the scientific

evidence, the most powerful evidence in this case, of course, is the DNA. The DNA evidence in this

case is unbelievable. Going back also to different techniques evidence derived from cutting-edge DNA technology

that prosecutors say points directly at Rex Newman being the Gilgo Beach serial killer

will be admissible at his trial according to a Suffolk County judge who ruled on this Wednesday.

The decision by Suffolk County Supreme Court Judge Timothy Mazay is an important win for prosecutors

and a blow for the defense team that challenged the validity of this type of technology that specializes

in extracting

leuklear DNA from damaged or hard-to-get samples such as rootless hair.

It was these types of individual stray hairs that were found on six of the seven victims.
