| 0:56.2 | ruling. Welcome to WNYC, Gabriel. Thank you for having me. |
| 1:01.5 | Gabriel, the court considered two cases concerning gay rights, and one was concerning transgender |
| 1:07.5 | rights. The latter was Amy Stevens case, which you worked on. Can you talk us through the complaint? |
| 1:14.6 | Yes, so Amy Stevens was, she died just last month. Amy Stevens was a transgender woman who worked as a funeral director. |
| 1:24.6 | That was her career for decades and according to all accounts, even her employer, |
| 1:29.9 | she was excellent at her job. And then she told her employer that she was a transgender woman |
| 1:36.2 | and that she needed to come back to work as who she truly was, Amy Australia Stevens. |
| 1:43.4 | And her employer fired her and said that it was not going to work out. |
| 1:49.3 | And so she sued for discrimination on the basis of sex, and that's what the Supreme Court just said happened to her. |
