Hello and welcome to episode 816 of the official Establish the Run.com podcast. My name is Adam Levitan.

I am one of the co-founders here at ETR and we are coming off of a I'm focused on gratitude kind of

week. Yes, that's right. This is normally the time of year where I make jokes about Thanksgiving,

about the opening of the turkey's asshole and the stuffing of the meat up there jokes about Thanksgiving, about the opening of the turkey's

asshole and the stuffing of the meat up there. You know, I complain about sitting around the bird

carcass and everyone asking, oh, why is Adam so distracted? Why is Adam on his hands and knees

on the floor begging for Jalen Tolbert five-yard receptions. I mean, why is he such a pathetic loser?

But I'm not going to do that this year. I'm not going to do my negative Thanksgiving rant this

year. Because honestly, I've run hotter than the sun for most of my life on the stuff that

actually matters. I don't mean gambling. I mean big important life things. And I should

be thankful. And every time I feel like this, I tell myself, I'm going to do something to give

back. I'm going to do something charitable. I'm going to do something, you know, I'm going to take

the time to help people who haven't run as well as I have in life.

But when it comes down to it, I don't because I'm selfish, you know, especially about my time.

There's always something more important I need to do or want to do.

So I just write a check, which honestly doesn't feel great.

You know, writing a check to charity, it feels like the lazy thing to do.

And there's really nothing I hate more in life than lazy.

But in reality, if you're writing a check to the right place, the most legit charities,

it's probably the most effective.
