Hello, thank you for joining me today for Give Him 15. The title of today's post is

Letter to the American Church. Letter to the American Church. Recently, I found myself considering

the importance of forerunners, voices of change who point the way toward the right path

and thought of Eric Metaxus. The journey of forerunners is always difficult as they challenge

the status quo and ruffle comfortable feathers, but God gives them steel backbones and steadfast hearts.

They are usually blessed with a great intellect and exceptional communication skills.

Eric is no exception. You may have read one of his exceptional books. Amazing Grace, the story of the

great reformer Wilberforce deeply impacted me, as did the powerful book on the life of Dietrich Bonhofer,

entitled Bonhofer, Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, and Spy.

Metaxus has other great books, but today I want to highlight once again his latest book

entitled Letter to the American Church.

And the amazing documentary in film adaptation with the same title.

I believe the message of this book and documentary is urgent.

Today's American Church has failed to be the voice we were called to be, thanks to

people like Eric Metaxus. This is changing. Eric's appeal to the church is passionate, intellectually,

and factually sound, historically reinforced, and biblically based. In the words of Aaron W.

Lutzer, Pastor Emeritus of the Moody Church in Chicago, quote, this book, and I will add

now this documentary, is like a bucket of cold water thrown into the face of a sleeping church.

And from Anne Graham Lotz, author of 11 books, including Just Give Me Jesus, quote,
