Welcome back friends to the morning mindset. It is time for you and for me to get

our minds aligned with the truth of God's word as revealed in the scriptures. You see Jesus has given us this

incredible gift in the accounts of his interaction with his own disciples. We find those in the

Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. And we've been studying John

chapters 14, 15, and 16.

Right now we're in the first part of John 15,

and Jesus has just unpacked a load of wonderful truths

that impact our lives in extremely positive ways.

He's just been explaining how his commands to us are loving things, that guide us in the path that

is best for us and for the life he has determined is best for us.

And now he's talking about what that sort of obedience to his commands does in our lives.

Verse 12, he said, this is my commandment

that you love one another as I have loved you.

So Jesus is instructing us to take from the love he's given to us that goes deep down into

our soul and provides security and satisfaction and a deep sense of joy and to turn that love around

and orient it toward others. We are to love others and specifically he's saying other believers in Christ in that same deep abiding sacrificial way.

You see love is something that is meant to be given away.

Yes, it can fill us up. Yes, it does fulfill us and it does provide for us

great, great personal satisfaction and meaning.

But it's not supposed to stay there.

It's supposed to be recalibrated to benefit others in those same ways because we being filled up with Jesus

love overflow and that overflow is to pour out on others. And he gives us an example in verse number 13
