Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's Bell again.

So today, we're going to talk about SNAP back at SCOTUS.

A quick recap on how we got here first.

A federal judge presiding over a case about SNAP believed the Trump administration was stalling. The judge ordered Trump to fund

SNAP by last Friday. The administration went to the Boston-based appeals court, and that court

declined to stop the order. So Trump went to SCOTUS with an emergency appeal to temporarily block

the court order. They got a block that lasted until 48 temporarily block the court order.

They got a block that lasted until 48 hours after the appeals court ruled on a longer block.

The additional time was to give Trump a chance to go back to the Supreme Court after the appeals court ruled.

When the appeals court didn't do what he wanted, he went back to the Supreme Court. Even though I got several nasty messages assuring me that was impossible,

when I said that's what the 48 hours delay was for. You would think the current shakeup on Capitol Hill would have been enough to get

the Trump administration to stop trying to deny food to people who are mostly children,

the elderly, and those with disabilities. But I guess that's just not the case. The Supreme Court decided to extend the block on requiring

payment through Thursday. It appears they hope everything will be resolved in Congress before then,

and this allows them to avoid making a substantial ruling on the situation as a whole.

In related legal news, when the initial order to pay by Friday went out, some states got funding.

Those states, knowing children were hungry, wasted no time getting the money out to people.

Then on Saturday, Patrick A. Penn, who is the Deputy Undersecretary

for Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services, sent out a memo, saying, quote,

To the extent states sent full SNAP payment files for November 2025, this was unauthorized. Accordingly, states must

immediately undo any steps taken to issue full SNAP benefits for November 2025. Please advise the

appropriate FNS Regional Office representative of steps taken to correct any actions taken that do not
