Well, howdy there, internet people, it's Bell again. So today, we're going to talk about Trump

saying there can be only one reconciliation bill. According to reports about what Speaker Johnson

has told House Republicans, Trump has decided he wants a single reconciliation bill instead of two or more.

The reconciliation process is a process that allows Congress to move legislation forward with a

simple majority. It's kind of a procedural pain, but for tax and spending policy, it works,

even if it is time-consuming.

Republican leadership had been leaning toward at least two bills, one on defense, energy,

and the border, the other on tax cuts.

But Trump has reportedly said he wants one big,

beautiful bill. The reason leadership in Congress was leaning towards two packages is because the

tax portion is a little dicey or politically within the Republican Party. As has been demonstrated

for a couple of weeks,

the budget fights are going to be a thorn in the side of Republicans in the House. That tax

fight is forecasted to require a long and tedious process of negotiations, to get a package

all of the Republicans will support.

Last month, now Senate Majority Leader John Thune said, quote,

In my view, it makes sense to move quickly on things we know we can do quickly,

border, defense, energy, and then come back with another package that would address some of the savings that

can be achieved through reductions in costs in various agencies and bureaucracies and government

programs, and then also deal with the expiring Trump tax cuts in a package later this year.

The idea was to get the momentum going with the stuff all the Republicans agreed on,
