So today, we're going to talk about Trump being told he's making America

Russia's patsy by a Republican senator.

Trump's attempts to push a deal between Ukraine and Russia is going so badly that he's

receiving pretty stiff public pushback from some influential voices

within his own party. The senior senator for Iowa, Chuck Grassley, took the president's

policies to task on social media. His phrasing avoided directly blaming Trump for the situation,

but condemn the outcome. It leaves Trump with the

out of blaming his negotiation team if things continue to fail. As Trump has pushed for some

kind of deal, the drafts of which have been described as a surrender to Russia, and there's widespread

that suggests Putin is stringing Trump along so he can

regroup for another push against Ukraine. Senator Chuck Grassley posted to social media,

quote, I've seen enough killing of innocent Ukrainian women and children. President Trump,

please put the toughest of sanctions on Putin. You ought to see from

clear evidence that he is playing America as a patsy. Grassley has been a longtime supporter of Ukraine

and has held that position pretty consistently, even as his party continues to surrender U.S.

influence abroad and attempts to adopt an isolationist

foreign policy. But this level of public criticism is kind of new, or at least more pronounced.

Most people who read the previously mentioned quote would conclude that Putin is playing

America as a patsy. Trump has been publicly engaging

with Putin and Zelensky. If Putin is playing America as a patsy, it would be reasonable

to conclude that Grassley believes Putin is playing Trump as a patsy as well. The criticism
