So today, we're going to talk about Trump, polling, and surprises.

There's been a lot of interesting polling coming out about Trump,

and specifically about how Republicans feel about Trump or his policies. It's funny in the context of

Trump constantly posting about how great his poll numbers are. If the Democratic Party can

successfully tie Republican candidates to Trump's policies, this might have a pretty marked effect on the midterms.

Let's start with a simple one. According to Reuters Ipsos polling, 63% said they disapprove of Trump's

job performance. Trump's approval rating hasn't gotten above 36% since he attacked Iran in February,

so that's about standard for the times. A little bit that says more about Americans than Trump

is that three quarters of respondents, including half of Republicans, believe Trump is responsible for the soaring cost of gas and diesel.

How that isn't 100% is beyond me. His ill-planned elective war that was tailor-made for soundbites,

instead of accomplishing objectives, led to Iran obtaining control of the

strait, which is why gas prices are up.

65% of respondents said they think Republicans are more responsible for gas prices than Democrats,

and about 80% said they expect the cost to continue to climb.

A majority of Americans and about a quarter of Republicans disapprove of Trump's handling of the

economy. Two out of three Americans don't believe he's explained the goals of his war well. Here's a weird one.

A news guard UGov poll found that about 30% of Americans think at least one of the attempts on

Trump was staged. Only 45% said each was a real attempt. That means a majority of Americans either don't believe or are not sure. And apparently, the attempt at the correspondence dinner is the most doubted. But the interesting part is that a little more than one out of ten Republicans believe Trump

is lying about the correspondence dinner attempt.

An analysis by the economist using UGov data says that he has a net approval rating of

negative 21 nationwide. And when you break it down to the state level,
