Well, howdy there, Internet People Lidsboo again.

So today we are going to talk about civic engagement and electoralism

and a person finding out that a phrase that I say on this channel a lot is true.

So recently I talked about electoralism and talked about how it was one of the forms of

specific engagement and that if you wanted to use it you had to be involved from the

beginning and you had to get your candidate the candidate that actually believes what you believe

through the primary.

And I had a couple of people, but one person in particular sent a message saying hey but if that happens

then they won't win in the general.

That's probably true.

For most people watching this channel, that is probably true because for most

people watching this channel your core beliefs are outside of the Overton

window in the United States, meaning the frame of normal political belief,

of the average political belief.

It goes back to that idea that there are a lot of Republican candidates who realized

they couldn't win a primary without Trump, but they might not be able to win a general

with him because the beliefs are so outside of the

Overton window.

For a lot of people watching this channel, a candidate who truly reflects your beliefs is going to be in the same situation, which is why

electoralism is the least effective form of civic engagement. How do you change that? How do you

change that fact? The fact that the candidate you want might be

unelectable in large parts of the US.
