Well, howdy there internet people, let's bow again.

Got a break in the rain, a little bit anyway.

So we're going to talk about tradition,

institutional traditions and how sometimes things can change

and institutions don't want them to.

So they just don't accept that things have changed. The military will often bring in outside experts, civilians, people that

have nothing to do with the military, to give them a fresh perspective on things,

to give them insight that they don't have

because they're in a bubble.

They're in an institutional bubble.

Sometimes these conversations aren't even asked for. They just happen kind of off hand.

That recently occurred with Elon Musk. He said something and he's right. He's right.

But the military hasn't accepted that he is correct yet.

It's interesting that we're talking about this today because today in 1912

was the first time that airships were used by the military anyway.

They were used for observation by the Italian surveillance reconnaissance.

Ever since then,

then, the militaries all over the world have been just obsessed with maintaining air superiority.

The U.S. is so much so that right now we're spending 1.5 trillion dollars more or less for the F-35 at the cost of roughly $100 million a unit, hundred million dollars an aircraft.

Some are a little more, some are a little less depending on what version.

They cost about forty thousand dollars to keep in the air, forty thousand dollars an hour to keep in the air, $40,000 an hour to keep in the air.

And they're obsolete.
