Well, howdy there, internet people, it's Bell again. So today, we're going to talk about

Facebook doing away with fact checking. Meta has indicated that fact checking will go away on

Facebook and Insta. Instead, it looks like they will be copying a system similar to the one

Musk instituted.

So, as AI becomes more capable, the largest social media networks are moving away from trying

to combat myths or disinformation.

That means everybody has to become better consumers of information, or we're going to end up in even more trouble than we are now.

The world of alternative facts will take hold and become the norm.

More and more powerful AI will be used by those who have the capability to churn out massive amounts of bad information,

to keep those on the bottom down. It seems likely that a flood the zone approach will be used,

and there will be so much bad information to sift through that those attempting to correct

falsehoods will be overrun.

Experts in disinformation are expressing their dismay, but it looks like for at least a foreseeable future, this is going to be the path the U.S. is on.

We're going to have major issues. When we're hit with another public health issue or national

emergency or disaster, the misinformation will likely run rampant and could have devastating results.

It seems likely that this could also be exploited by adversarial nations during their disinformation campaigns.

It's incredibly important that we all become better consumers of information and encourage

others to do the same. Trump has expressed his support for the changes. When asked about the changes,

he said, quote, I watched their news conference,

and I thought it was a very good news conference. I think they've, honestly, I think they've come

a long way. Meta, Facebook, I think they've come a long way. I watched it. The man was very impressive.

On top of that, the reporting suggests that Facebook will be altering its content moderation as well.
