Well, howdy there, internet people, it's Bell again. So today, we're going to talk about water

and the lack of it. We're going to talk about how almost every single U.S. state is experiencing

drought right now. The big news is that the state of New Jersey has declared a drought warning,

and that shortly after the governor made the announcement, at least one water official publicly said that he didn't

go far enough, saying that the governor should have declared a drought emergency and imposed

restrictions. This comes as New Jersey has been dealing with wildfires,

and that's what's driving the news. But there is way more to this story. Lots of states have parts

that are dealing with moderate drought or worse. There's so many that it's really easier to list the states not dealing with it.

So we'll do that in alphabetical order.

According to the National Integrated Drought Information System,

which you can access by going to

Drought.gov. Every other U.S. state is dealing with at least moderate drought in some part of

the state. If you want to break it down by a percentage of U.S. land being impacted by drought,

it's 43.4%. If you just count the lower 48 states, it's 51.89%.

That's right, more than half. Surely, some will think it's all just desert or something like that.

So, let's look at it by people. 153.2 million people in the United States

are currently under drought. These numbers might change a little bit by the time you go look at them

as the system updates, but they'll probably be worse. At least that's been the trend over the last month.

Another interesting stat is that 318.6 million acres of major crops are under drought conditions.

Major crop is listed as things like corn, rice, soybean, wheat, stuff like that. This video is really kind of a data dump.
