Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's bell again. So today, we're going to talk about

Carney, Trump, and the unexpected. Trump and Carney met in the Oval Office, and it was tense.

But at the same time, Trump's tone had shifted on a number of key issues, and there was a swing in

rhetoric. It's unclear as of yet if this is just Trump's erratic nature, or he's starting to

realize that, to reference another recent White House meeting, he doesn't have the cards,

and that Carney is already moving in a way Trump didn't expect.

Trump's tone was different. No more governor. He actually tried flattery with Carney. He did mention a

possible marriage between the U.S. and Canada, saying, quote, it would really be a wonderful marriage. But he also said, quote, I do feel it's much

better for Canada, but we're not going to be discussing that unless somebody wants to discuss it.

Carney made it clear that he wasn't accepting the engagement ring, a number of times.

Perhaps the most entertaining was when he tried to relate to Trump when it comes to real estate,

saying, quote,

As you know from real estate, there are some places that are never for sale.

Trump replied with, Never Say Never.

Carney repeatedly said never. Also saying, quote,

having met with the owners of Canada over the course of the campaign in the last several months,

it's not for sale, won't be for sale, ever. There wasn't going to be a trade breakthrough here, and that wasn't the point of the meeting, but what might be the most interesting point of the meeting really didn't

have much to do with Canada specifically. Trump kind of went off about the mounting pressure to sign a

trade deal.

Trump said, quote,

Everyone says, when, when, when are you going to sign deals?

We don't have to sign deals.
