So I got a message, but I'm going to read a part of it, provide the response, and then read

the last part for a little added humor.

work through the weekend, we listened to Dee on Saturday when she mentioned December 7th in

Pearl Harbor, and that started them off about the movie and about how it was just Hollywood

wokeness that an untrained black cook could operate

a 50 and shoot down enemy planes. You were in the military. I was wondering if you could shed a little

light on this for me. And we'll stop reading the message there and come back to read the

conclusion afterward.

Okay, yes, the movie has some inaccuracies, but this isn't one of them.

An untrained cook could absolutely get some minor instruction on how the browning functions

and go to town. Remember, military weapons are designed to be simple.

I know for 100% fact that this could happen because it absolutely did. That scene is real.

The sailor's name was Doris Miller. He went by Dory.

When the attack happened, he reported to his battle station, but it had been destroyed, so

he helped carry some wounded to safety for a bit before a lieutenant ordered him to help load

a couple of fifty calibers.
