So today we are going to talk about the heat again,

because we are approaching a weekend that is supposed to be kind of unique.

This morning, it's I believe 115 million people

in the United States were under heat alerts.

This weekend, there is supposed to be

80 million people in the United States dealing with heat index of 105 or more.

That's a dangerous temperature. It seems like that you go without saying.

It's worth remembering that about 70,000 ER visits a year are attributable to heat. There's a whole bunch of information and resources over on heat.gov, but a quick kind of crash

course for people to remember as they're trying to deal with this. First, pregame, pregame.

Stay hydrated. Drink a whole lot of water during this period. Avoid sugary and caffeinated drinks.

And if you're like me and you're gonna drink a bunch of caffeinated drinks,

drink even more water.

Combine that with some snacks to add salt, help replace some minerals.

In temperatures above 90 degrees, you can't just rely on fans. That may not be enough.

Okay? Should go without saying, don't exert yourself outside.

This is something that a whole lot of people have problems with.

You know, if you are, if you live where I live working and doing stuff outside

You're acclimated to to some to some high temperatures.

A couple of extra degrees, especially at this range.

That's what you are used to doing is going to be way beyond you and you might get hurt.
