Summary

This week's Full Time podcast has a bit of a Seattle feel.

Tamerra Griffin and Meg Linehan caught up with Seattle Reign general manager Lesle Gallimore to learn more about how the NWSL club's recent ownership change has affected their 2024 season in both frustrating and exciting ways.

Gallimore also opened up about her decision to feature in the new Netflix documentary 'Untold: Hope Solo vs. U.S. Soccer' -- she unpacked some of her feelings on the legendary USWNT goalkeeper too. Before being at the helm of the Reign, Gallimore was at the University of Washington for 25 seasons. There, she coached Solo in the early 2000s. Tamerra and Meg also weighed in on the documentary and some of its glaring journalistic deficiencies.

After all that, there's still time to talk NJ/NY Gotham FC becoming the first NWSL club to visit the White House, the curiosities of ESPN's GM survey, and the return of the English Women's Super League.

Hello, hello, hello. Welcome back to Full Time with Meg Linahan. I'm Tamara Griffin,

0:18.8

and I think everywhere now in the U.S. at least, it's fall.

0:23.4

But I am most curious to hear about the fall vibes from my esteemed co-host, Meg Linnehan, Vermont fall.

0:31.6

How postcardi is it right now, Meg?

0:34.1

I mean, the unfortunate thing is it's 80 degrees outside, but the leaves are starting.

0:38.5

Oh. So, but it is 80 degrees outside. I'm ready for layers. I, I forced layers and now we're

0:47.8

right back into, you got to wear shorts outside or else it's over for you. So I'm struggling,

0:53.5

but we'll get there.

1:12.2

We'll get there. I've already had apple cider donuts. So it's fall. Okay. So we're transitioning. I won't lie. I went to the beach this past weekend. I'm still in New York. It might be warmer there in Vermont than it is in New York at the moment, but I, too, am forcing layers. And the humidity, I will say, has subsided substantially, which I'm pretty happy about. My skin might suffer a little bit, but we'll

1:17.8

get through it. Fall also means that we are entering the final stage of this chaotic league

1:25.2

in the NWSL. So much is happening. Players or teams are

1:29.9

clinching playoff spots. And I think things are going to get turned up several notches

1:35.5

between now and the end of the season. So on the show today, Meg and I will be speaking with

1:41.3

Seattle Rain General Manager Leslie Gallimore to talk about

1:44.3

that that team's journey this season. It's been quite a roller coaster, pretty topsy-turvy,

1:49.6

but they've seen some success pretty recently. So we want to dig into what that journey has

1:54.1

been like through the team's transition getting sold. We're also, as promised, if you

2:00.1

listen to last week's episode, going to be

2:02.8

giving our thoughts on the Netflix documentary Untold Hope Solo versus U.S. soccer, which Gallamore was

2:08.7

also featured in because she was Hope's coach at the University of Washington. And then before we

2:14.4

wrap up, we are going to be sharing some thoughts on that spicy ESPN anonymous general manager survey.

2:21.7

GMs are the theme this week if you haven't noticed.
