Welcome to the treatment. When I met my guest, Lena Waith, about a year ago, I said to her,

0:18.4

you have an open invitation and come to my dumb little radio show whenever you want to. She conceded now that she's an Emmy nominee for her writing and starring in the Thanksgiving episode, as well as the rest of the shows of Master of Nuh. One of the most stylish people I know, Lena Waith. First of all, thanks so much for being here. Thanks for having me, man. One of the things I've said to you and I've said to the group and the thing that

0:40.3

fascinates me about the show, and we've talked about this, I want to chop it up a little bit here,

0:43.3

it's a show that's kind of about what it's like to be to realize that people are always paying attention to you in a way,

0:49.3

that they're always looking at you and judging you as a personal color, which I think makes this show unique, doesn't it?

0:54.3

Yeah, yeah. I think, you know, Aziz and Alan, you know, came into it with, you know, a vision of, you know, a vision of wanting to tell their story, but not wanting to do it from a soapbox. We're like everybody else. We're regular Joe's. We date. We have dreams. We have families and them

1:13.3

sort of diving into their unique family dynamic because they're first generation kids and what

1:17.5

that's like. I just think it was sort of a breath of fresh air. And I think people hadn't really

1:21.9

seen that before because basically the cool thing about it is almost like that show could be

1:25.7

about a white dude. But instead of that, it's like it's an Indian guy and it's about his Asian friends,

1:30.7

black lesbian friends.

1:31.8

Like those could be conversations that usually, and especially in the TV world, you often see

1:36.3

there's a white protagonist.

1:38.0

There's like, you know, maybe a minority person kind of in the background.

1:41.6

But I think what they deal was they kind of just sort of swapped it out.

1:44.6

And they're like, we're going to have, you know, people of color be the people driving the story.

1:48.2

And so you'll get know, there are certain

2:01.2

things that we bump into and we have to confront or deal with that, you know, certain our

2:06.0

Caucasian brethren and sisters don't have to. Well, that concept, to me, that idea that when you

2:10.9

walk into a room, you realize you've changed the temperature of the room, but just by walking

2:13.9

into it is something that, again, it's also what you think as a writer, too,
