When we came to you this morning, we had breaking news concerning that police report

detailing an alleged sexual assault committed by Trump Defense Secretary Pete Hegsett.

So we did that.

But I thought that would be the biggest news of the day.

And when I thought that, you know what, I was wrong because this afternoon there was a bombshell coming out from Washington.

Former Florida Congressman Matt Gates announcing that he is withdrawing from consideration

as President-elect Donald Trump's nominee for Attorney General.

This was less than an hour after he was contacted by my former colleagues at CNN

for comment on new reporting of a second sexual encounter between Gates and then underage girl.

Suffice it to say that Trump world is in chaos right now, but everyone else is breathing a sigh of relief because Gates is universally disliked in Washington.

I've been telling people there saying that this is partisan.

It is not partisan.

It's partisan for the Republicans because Republicans don't like Matt Gates.
