And that is on this Texas redistricting efforts and the special session and the breaking

of quorum. And I'm joined now by Representative Jolanda Jones from the Texas legislature, also

Charlene Ward Johnson, also on the Texas legislature. Politico is reporting this. Politico is

saying that the Texas Democrats have signaled that they are poised

to end their redistricting walkout. Representatives, welcome to the show. Is this true? What's going on?

Thank you. Some people are going back. We're not. They are going back after all of this. What's the point then? What was the point of all of this?

I can't speak for them, but I can tell you that for myself, and Rep Ward Johnson will tell you for herself,

I came here for the long haul. I came here to stop the maps, and however long I needed to be

gone, then I was going to be gone. I didn't,

I didn't come here to like win a messaging war. I came here to fight for the constituents of House

District 147 because if these maps, these racist redistricted maps go through, black people will

leave two seats in Texas, and we can't.

And Reverend Johnson can tell you why she came.

Hello, I'm Charlene Ward, Johnson House District 139, which is in Houston, Texas.

And I sit in one of the congressional districts that is part of the racial gerrymandering.

I haven't decided when I was coming back. We are still, I'm still negotiating.

I'm still trying to look at the best way to serve my constituents.

What is the best strategy that I can do that's going to benefit them the most?
