leaders go further faster. On today's podcast we're going to discuss the

challenge of leading in uncertain times.

And as I began to think about our conversation today about leadership in uncertain times,

it occurred to me that that just seems to be what leadership is now.

I mean, is there ever going to be a time when times are not uncertain?

No, I think, and we've said this before, that uncertainty is what requires leadership

or services the need for leadership.

Where there's certainty where things are predictable you need some good management but you don't

need people who are looking beyond what is to think about what could be what should be

what problems need to be solved what problems need to be solved, what issues

need to be addressed.

So, you know, uncertainty is what gives leaders job security.

I mean, when a company gets in trouble, you know, they start looking for somebody to come in and solve the problem and lead

the organization to, you know, a new direction or address the issues that have created the problem,

but problems are really the result of uncertainty within the

organization or in the marketplace or the circumstances that impact in

organizations. So the bottom line is the only thing that is certain is

uncertainty and that's just the way it is so well let's jump right in then as I've watched you lead our organization during some uncertain times and I've heard you teach about it

You seem to come back to three things again and again,

and that's clarity, flexibility, and transparency.
