My name's Daniel Port, and I am excited to have you here with us today.

Let me apologize in advance before we get started, folks, that I have a bit of a cold this morning.

So if I sound a little nasally or a little froggy, at least more so than usual.

That's why, so thank you for your patience with that.

I tried to get all

the sniffles and stuff out. But if I missed one, I apologize in advance. We've got a really

fun episode today, and I'm really glad we're doing it. So what I thought we would do, after talking

about athletes who have passed over the years or to talk about some of the older players, I want

to talk about some of the players who just retired. We had a couple really significant retirements happened this year, and I thought it would be fun to look at their

legacies and where they fit into the bigger picture of things. And today's subject, I feel like

we haven't done a pitcher in a while, so I wanted to do a pitcher. And because there's Miguel Cabrera

to talk about. There's a lot of great players to talk about. But I thought we'd get started with Adam Wainwright,

who I think it's a really interesting player

and a really interesting legacy to look into.

And so I thought this would be a fun way

to kick off the retirement series, as I like to think of it.

Memory is a strange thing,

especially when it comes to athletes and how we remember them.

There's a well-known concept in psychology called the Mandela Effect, which is where a group

of people will remember something one way, and reality was never that thing or the way

that they remember it or something else.
