Summary

This week, Mark hosts the show alongside Take fave Ben Bailey-Smith. Ben sits down with one of Hollywood’s finest actresses Laura Linney to discuss her sentimental comedy-drama ‘The Miracle Club’, which follows a group of Dublin women in 1960’s Ireland as they embark on a once-in-a-lifetime pilgrimage to Lourdes. Mark offers his own thoughts on the film, while also giving his take on ‘Blackberry’, a Glenn Howerton-starring biographical drama about the rise and fall of the world’s first smartphone; ‘Silver Dollar Road’, Raoul Peck’s latest documentary about a Black family’s decades-long legal fight to maintain ownership of their coastal property in North Carolina; and ‘The Fall of the House of Usher’, a Mike Flanagan-helmed Netflix horror miniseries loosely based on the Edgar Allan Poe short story of the same name. Mark and Ben also take us through the Box Office Top 10 and the film events worth catching in this week’s What’s On. Um, all right, are we a clap?

0:16.4

The bloody in the blood, the bloody in the blood, the bloody in the blood, did you see it?

0:22.4

Blood, no, no, no, I just, I listen to your review and yeah, the only thing that could

0:29.5

have made it better, as if I was, I was there, I was just gutted not to have been sitting

0:34.4

in for Simon when a proper chameleon rant hit.

0:39.5

It was, it was phenomenal, especially the, I think my favourite bit was that I've started

0:43.3

to finish bit when the buzzer went and you just fine, I was not going, I was more to attack

0:49.1

here.

0:50.1

Sounded genuinely offended, well, it was very, very bad, I mean, very, very, very bad and

0:57.8

it's, it's, it's kind of, it's always worse when you do that, like making a sequel to

1:04.4

something that was great, just making a bad film is fine, but it was sort of desecrating

1:09.6

something.

1:10.6

Yeah.

1:11.6

And I do feel like that reason.

1:12.6

I always remember that, um, William Freakin said, the, the exesist too, he said that film

1:19.4

is the product of a demented mind, and he used to tell this story about the first time

1:23.8

that they had, um, they had a preview screening of it, and, um, the Warner executives

1:28.5

in all thought they'd made something very clever, you know, it's going to be a hit because

1:30.9

it was, you know, so they were all there and the screening was, I hope, with or somewhere,

1:35.1

and there's a full screening room and, uh, and the executives are there and then, you

1:39.4

know, they just, they go outside, you know, wait for their cup, but meanwhile the cars,

1:43.4

can they drop them off and the executives say, you know, there'll be a couple of hours,
