A former Kentucky sheriff accused of murdering a sitting judge is now getting something he never expected.

A bond hearing.

A special judge still refuses to dismiss the indictment and refuses to unseal a secret mental health evaluation.

But this judge is giving Mickey Stein's a chance

He is accused in the murder of Letcher County, Kentucky judge, Kevin Mullins.

Well, the insanity question continues to loom large.

How will that play out, including the state's own documentation that Steins was in a quote-unquote active state of psychosis after the shooting.

Just taking you back to the beginning of this case, it all started September 19th,

2024 a year ago this past September, when security camera video from inside the judge's chamber

catches Sheriff Mickey Stein's unloading eight rounds into the body of Letcher County

Judge Kevin Mullins. He is better known as Sheriff Sean Mickey Steins going by the nickname Mickey, who drew this firearm after what was described as a somewhat pleasant lunch.

They were all at lunch together.
