Today I would like to talk to you about the butterfly effect. Now I don't know

if you're familiar with this or not. I'm not talking about the movie. I'm talking about the

scientific principle. And I'll just read this for you here. It's a chaos theory, but the butterfly effect is the sensitive dependence on initial

conditions in which a small change can result in large differences of a state or at a later

time.

The term is closely associated with the work of mathematician and

meteorologist Edward Norton Lorenz. He noted that the butterfly effect is derived from the

metaphorical example of the details of a tornado being influenced by the minor actions such as a distant

butterfly flapping its wings several weeks before.

He discovered the effect when he observed a weather model with data that was rounded in a seemingly

inconsequential matter he noted that a very small change very very small

change in the initial conditions had created a significant different weather
