Recently I visited a farm on D-side called Ochneren, which is Ockneran, which is Ockner. Thank you very much for choosing to listen to this. I'm Mark Stephen.

Recently I visited a farm on D-Side called Ochneren, which is owned and run by the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust.

Now, it's an experimental farm. They try out different forms of farming to see what might benefit both game species and wildlife more generally.

They're lucky. They've got a large population of wading birds, things like oyster catchers, curlews,

snipe and lapwing.

And at this time of year, they actually ring the lapwing chicks

to try and build up information on things like breeding success and survival rates.

Now I joined research assistant Max Wright, who was doing the ringing, and Honour Jones, who was recording the all-important data.
