In 1981, a 10-year-old girl was riding her bike as she headed back home after a visit at her cousin's house.

She never arrived home though.

Then this was the start of what is considered to be one of the most notorious and controversial

criminal cases to ever happen in post World War II Germany.

September 15, 1981 was the first day of the school year and what was then the Federal Republic of Germany.

Ursula Herman was at her cousin's house and as Knight began to set in, the girl's mother

called her sister telling her that she needed to send her daughter back home.

The bike ride between the two houses would normally take around 10 minutes to complete,

but 30 minutes had passed and Ursula it still not arrived home. Her mother called again and the aunt said that her

niece had already left 20 minutes ago and as if on cue both of them

knew immediately that something was terribly wrong.

Ursula's father and uncle searched the forest between the road of etching and scondorf.
