Hello, Lakers Nation. Welcome in to the Lakersnation.com podcast. I am Trevor Lane. We've got a lot to talk about on today's show. Yonis Valchunis, maybe still an option, kind of for the Lakers. We'll talk a little bit about that, how that could actually play out. Jordan Goodwin, the latest Lakers signing. What does that mean for the team? Going to get into some question and answer as well, plus the greatest Laker of all time.

Here we are today, September 4th.

We are 30 days away from the Lakers being back on the court.

I know some people count down to the start of the NBA season.

I count down to the start of preseason.

Whatever gets me there faster because I can't wait

for the Lakers to be back on the floor. I know it's been a disappointing summer. I'm right there with

everybody else. It's been frustrating seeing the Lakers stagnant over the course of what should have been

a big, very important, very impactful summer for them. But nonetheless, I can't wait to see the

NBA get going again.

The NFL starts up again this week and back starting up tomorrow night. I'm excited for that.

We've got baseball going on. We've got that season really heating up. The Dodgers, they're getting

things going. I can't wait. By the way, shout out to my guy Blake Williams sending me this.

The Kobe Black Mamba Dodgers jersey. So thrilled to get this one. But a lot going on in the sports

world. This is a fun time of year. And then we have, of course, the Lakers back in action,

30 days. I'm ready for it. But let's start here. Let's start with the whole Valencius thing.

So Jonas Valenzhenius was rumored to be a person who

was on LeBron's list. Remember that? Remember all the optimist? Remember how good we felt at that point?

LeBron is going to take less. All the Lakers have to do is sign one of these guys on his list with the

mid-level exception. That's all they got to do. And LeBron's going to take less money to facilitate that. Oh, those were the days. But it didn't happen. But Yonis Valenzhenius was reportedly one of those guys. The Lakers, they were waiting on Clay Thompson. That obviously did not happen. He instead

went to the Dallas Mavericks, despite the Lakers' best efforts. But Yonis Valentunis, meanwhile, signed with the Washington Wizards. But that doesn't necessarily mean the Lakers are totally out on him. Now, I don't think he's necessarily the end-all be-all for the Lakers. I believe there's other guys that the Lakers would be more interested in.

And right now, I think most of the guys that they would be interested in, the asking price is simply too high. And that may change. Once we get into the season, I do think it's going to be a hellacious tank race as teams get an eye on at Cooper Flag and they start to position themselves to try to get that number
