My name is Jeff Spiegel. Tonight filling in for Trevor Lane, who is at the game in Memphis,

joined tonight by the man that all of us need as Lakers fans, the optimist, Matthew Peralta.

Matt, do you have any optimism left for us after the game we just watched?

We are, let's see, Jeff, since you're on the show, I've got to make this a baseball reference

here. You can call me Blake Trinan, I guess. Let's see how much I got in the tank and I just

empty out the reserves. All the optimism I've got, man. I'm going to give you, I'm going to give you I'm going to give you at least seven outs today. Okay, we'll take it. We'll take it.

We'll take whatever we can get because we are running out of arms.

The Lakers lose 131 to 114 to the Memphis Grizzlies.

I'll say this, Matt, they kind of hung for a little while.

It felt like they kept this game within striking distance.

And yet by the time the fourth quarter got underway, kind of, I would say not

unexpectedly given that Anthony Davis didn't play, Rui Hachemori didn't play, they just got worn out.

They just didn't have enough bodies left, enough energy left in the tank to keep this one close

in the fourth. Yeah, I think once we heard the news that Anthony Davis was going to be out, I think

we knew that this was going to be a tough one for the Lakers to get stops. He, Anthony

Davis has been by far in a way their best defensive player and so without their anchor in the

middle of the paint. I think Memphis just kind of had a field day. And like you mentioned,

the Lakers did manage to keep it close for, I'd say like two and a half quarters and then that third and ultimately the fourth quarter did them in.

So can't really say you're too surprised by the result, but it is still very disappointing to

see them lose the way they did. Yeah. And on a night when LeBron scores 39.6 of 11 from three point range,

15 of 24 from the floor, 39, 7 and 6 for him to feel like you're wasting a performance like
