Hello, everyone and welcome to police off the cuff, real crime stories.

I'm your host, retired NY NYPD, Sergeant Bill Cannon,

a 27-year veteran of the NYPD. You know, this case out of the University of Georgia,

Lake and Riley, it's sort of become a cause-seleb in regards to, well, illegal immigration.

And the safety, campus safety and security.

Here's this poor girl, a nursing student, beautiful person,

doing all the right things in life.

And then this person here you see on the screen,

Jose Antonio Ibarra,

an illegal alien from Venezuela,

who had been previously arrested in New York City

and somehow made his way to Georgia.

That didn't do a thing getting arrested in New York City.

I just gave a little history lesson to that.

When I was on the NYPD and when Mike Gehry was on the NYPD,

when we arrested someone that was an illegal,

we would notify ICE immigration and customs enforcement,

and they would come after we had processed our prisoner

after he was arraigned and they would go to the court

and they would pick him up for deportation.

Well, that doesn't happen anymore.

So outrageous things like this occur where this beautiful nursing student loses her life.
