This strike is not about the teachers. Instead, it is the bus drivers custodians, special Ed assistants and some of the public schools, other lowest paid workers, one of the union leaders said the decision to walk up the job was the last resort.

After almost a year of bargaining for better pay with no success, the union is demanding a 30% salary increase plus $2 more per hour for the lowest paid employees.

The union says the average worker makes about $25,000 and they want to raise that to about $36,000.
