Summary

For the near future, KU hoops are in limbo waiting to find out what legendary coach Bill Self is going to do.  If you're not in the camp that believes Jacque Vaughn is here to take the job as a given, well, things just got even murkier for KU as North Carolina parts with Hubert Davis and has an immediate opening.   In an incredible admission, Royals GM JJ Picollo says not too long ago, Royals executives thought Maikel Garcia was a better shortstop than Bobby Witt Jr.  We will play the audio.   The Royals also announced they are offering a hot dog and beer drinking challenge this year at the K called the 9-9-9 challenge.  With a tiny twist.    Missouri's Supreme Court rules it's just fine for the state to draw new districts in the middle of a decade.... this could be the end for Congressman Cleaver in KC at age 82.    After two days of mocking President Trump for saying the US and Iran are trying to work out a future for the country, CNN reports its true because a "high level Iranian official" has confirmed it.  What the hell has happened to American media?    Liberty approves a new data center while a couple of really crazy, dumb, women farmers in Kentucky turn one down even after getting the offer of  a life time.    Theo Von interviews Vince Vaughn about late night shows no longer being funny.

It's getting real at the University of Kansas around their basketball program, and this is way different than 24 years ago when Roy Williams left

the University of Kansas. For the second time, it was a giant story that Roy Williams was considering

leaving and going to North Carolina. And the second time around, he finally did. And it was

0:35.7

absolute chaos at KU. The intense reaction from the fans that Roy was

0:42.9

even considering leaving was one of the craziest sensations I've ever seen in sports. KU fans

0:48.3

were melting down right and left. They liked the hire of Bill Self. Everyone liked the

hire of Bill Self. Nobody thought Bill Self would be as good as Roy Williams.

Bill Self has just leapfrogged over Roy Williams,

1:01.4

become the greatest coach in KU history, won two national titles in 23 seasons and just shattered everything.

1:08.8

And for whatever reason right now, the fan base is split across these lines.

1:14.3

But this one's different. This isn't leaving for someone else. This isn't breaking your heart.

1:18.6

This is maybe a man with a heart that can't hold up to the stress of the job anymore,

1:24.3

has to walk away. A completely different situation. Kansas fans are split on this.

1:30.5

Some want him to retire, move on, let's go to the next coach, and let's let him be the legend

1:35.3

that he is and live out his life in great health and enjoy himself. He's earned it. Some are thinking,

1:42.2

uh-oh, Jacques Fawn's automatic as the next head coach we may have a problem on our

1:47.7

hands here he may not be the answer yet and i'll get to that more in a moment because i don't think

1:52.1

the plan was ever one year and jacques vaughn is taking over i think that was the backup plan i think

1:56.3

the plan was bill self was going to coach a couple three more years and then jacques vaughn would be up to speed within the program and the college game and all those things and be ready to take over. There seems to be a little bit of a fear right now that he is not ready to do that. Even though he's been a head coach before in the NBA, the college game is different. And maybe, just maybe he hasn't been there quite long enough. Bill Self could certainly mentor him.

2:18.4

Bill Self could stay on as a consultant to Kansas, draw a million or two million a year

2:21.6

salary.
