Hey, this is a special edition of the Book of Basketball 2.0 podcast.

This is a show that I taped for ESPN with Jalen Rose and Kobe Bryant in February 2015

for the grant land basketball hour.

That was a little show that Jalen hour doing during the 2014, 15 season.

Kobe Bryant had torn his rotator cuff a few weeks earlier.

So he was doing the interview in a sling.

And it's something that I had gotten to know him a little bit starting December 2012

and we'd gone back and forth.

And I'd seen him a couple of times and we had always talked about doing a podcast and something.

He was always kind of elusive.

And then when he had a documentary that he did for, I think it was show time.

That was coming out, I think a week after we did this, this, uh,

grant land basketball hour, that allowed us to finally get together and talk basketball for

an hour and given the week we just had in his tragic passing.

I just thought it's a really good interview with him.

He's, he's great in it and you can get a sense for the way he thought about basketball

and his own career and his mortality as a basketball player and all that stuff.

He had a great relationship with Jalen.

They went ahead to Jalen's on the court for the 81 point game, which we talked about.

To put that season a little bit of context, this was definitely a transition season for the NBA.

This is Kobe had just signed a two year deal basically to finish his career at the Lakers for a

lot of money and ushered that him into a whole new era, which they finally came out of a few years
