We start with an update on the case against Charlie Kirk's alleged shooter.

Prosecutors have filed seven charges against Tyler Robinson, including aggravated murder,

and prosecutors say they'll seek the death penalty. I do not take this decision lightly, and it is a decision I have made independently

as county attorney based solely on the available evidence and circumstances and nature of the crime.

That's Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray.

Robinson is being held without bail.

During his court appearance today, he was appointed an attorney by the judge.

Robinson's next hearing is set for September 29th.

Some new details we're learning from authorities are that the bullet that hit Kirk nearly missed several people.

Charging documents show the 22-year-old suspect confessed to his roommate in a series of messages after the shooting.

Senators zeroed in on Kirk's murder investigation during a heated hearing with the FBI director.

On social media, Cash Patel claimed investigators detained someone in connection to the shooting, hours before the suspect was arrested.

He testified that he was being transparent with the public, but admitted he could have chosen

his words more carefully when Democratic Senator Peter Welch questioned him.

So if you put out a statement that says we've got our man, and in fact it turns out that you

didn't have your man, that's not a mistake.

But that's not what I said.

Patel also got into shouting matches with several other Democratic lawmakers, such as Senator Adam Schiff.
