I'm John Batscher. This is the King Charles the third report with Gregory Coppley of Defense and Foreign Affairs.

At Christmas, King Charles delivered an annual address to the British people, and he emphasized

At the same time, the announcement came that Charles and Camilla are off to Scotland for a month.

They might have departed already. I'm not following their calendar.

And why? Well, that's why Gregory is here to help me understand the tension between Scotland and England,

which dates at least to the 18th century when they formed a union.

And Gregory tells me before,

the eco- Christmas is wise and good politics from the king's point of view.

I understand he never throws away desserts.

Well, it might be Drich in Dreyir in Scotland at this time of year, but it's also a very heartwarming time of year,

and it's important for the king to, as did his mother,

Queen Elizabeth, to identify strongly

with Scotland as a major and probably the major

component of the United Kingdom with England.
