Summary
We all want to feel great, to have more energy, and enjoy life to the fullest, and while most of us know that our diets significantly contribute to this, many of us don't heed the call our bodies are making for better quality nutrition. But what if eating a healthy diet that provided more energy and that 'feel good' feeling didn't have to taste awful? What if we could eat delicious fats and still feel great?
Alex Cunningham, Head of Partnerships at Perfect Keto (perfectketo.com), is a graduate of Villanova University with a BS in chemical engineering. Mr. Cunningham is an expert in health and nutrition and has consulted for many years in the field. His business, Perfect Keto, is a ketogenic nutrition company. The ketogenic diet is based on a low-carb intake for those who function best on a higher fat diet, one that increases their mental performance when they use fat for fuel instead of carbohydrates.
Cunningham discusses how a large sector of the population never experiences scarcity such that the body needs to break down fat and run on ketones. Most people get their energy from carbohydrates, but as Cunningham explains, when the body runs on ketones, a higher level of energy is experienced. Additionally, those who do tap into their ketones often find that their mental clarity is expanded beyond their expectations. The nutrition expert gives an overview of some of the ketone products that his company, Perfect Keto, develops and distributes. Keto Base, for example, is a powder made from beta hydroxy-butyrate (BHB), and it contains zero carbs, gums, fillers, or sugars. Keto Base contains MCTs (medium-chain triglycerides), which is a vital source of energy for everyone.
Cunningham explains that in regard to ketosis, calories should be delivered 75% from a fat source, 20% from proteins, and 5% from carbohydrates. However, this will only put someone into a fat burning space, and is not necessarily going to be the supreme answer for good health. As Cunningham notes, the end goal is not to be in ketosis, but is actually, simply, to feel great. He provides an overview of some changes that anyone can make in order to get their body feeling and performing at optimum levels. By cutting carbohydrates out, except for leafy greens, a body is able to thrive as you give it the stimulus to operate on its own fat. A ketogenic diet allows an individual to truly enjoy eating fats, but without those carbs that are dragging us down, and those who explore this lifestyle find that they are less hungry and more fulfilled.
For those who may have an established vegan or vegetarian diet and prefer to continue eating their normal diet, exogenous ketones can still enhance their overall well-being. Perfect Keto's exogenous ketones are 100% vegan and vegetarian friendly with no dairy or animal products. Thus vegans and vegetarians can experience the same boost of energy and get that 'feel great' feeling that omnivores enjoy on a ketogenic diet.
