Kielion, it's great to have you on the single track podcast. How are you doing today?

Doing good, yeah. It's a pleasure. Thanks for inviting me.

I think where I want to start this conversation is with the history of our sport and the greater

mountain sports world. I know you're a student of this. You've written extensively about it in the

past. For me, it's interesting to see

the reasons why we participate in mountain sports change over years, decades, centuries.

Like at one point in the 19th century, it was sort of about scientific exploration. Then it

became kind of about nationalism. Then it became about, like, art.

Some would argue, I think you've talked about this.

It's become more self-centered in recent decades.

Like, it's about external validation, personal branding, consumerism.

Do you agree with that timeline and, like, where the direction of motivation is trending?

Yeah, I'm sure.

Like, I think many times, like, we believe that we have some kind of freedom on how we take

the decisions, but we need to also understand that we are part of a culture.

And we have an heritage from the previous generations

and we are bringing these heritage we have

and that's why we do the things we do

and especially the way we do it

but also we are influenced by society

so even if I would say that in every generation,

it's big differences in between like what people is doing in terms of style
