Pittsburgh Downtown Wood Street, 413 Wood Street. A clothe here, Peter Lawrence opened

five years ago, 2018, in an effort for the whole block to rebuild clothing and retail

shops once Macy's had left the city. Herein lies a tale of Pittsburgh trying to do the

right thing. The pandemic comes along and now, Selena Zito of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette,

the Washington Examiner and the New York Post, takes us to 413 Wood Street and the proprietor

Schladenbrand, who named the store for his son, Peter and his complaint as to why he's

closing. Selena, a very good evening to you. This is a sad story, but the detail I enjoy, because

Mr Schladenbrand wanted to do the right thing and has five years stood his ground hoping for

a revival of Wood Street. What happened? Good evening to you. Good evening. Thanks so much for

having me on. Well, I think what's happening in Pittsburgh is the same thing that is happening

to medium and large-sized cities across the country, whose leadership has made the priority to

look the other way when it comes to crime and homelessness and allowed this sort of unlawfulness

and this decay to become okay in the name of progressivism. The specific complaint by Schladenbrand

is next door, there's a beer store where homeless people and otherwise not good actors hang out

and his employees are frightened to come to work. Is this a specific story to Wood Street or

does this reproduce itself throughout the city? Well, I help people read the entire piece that I

wrote because the whole of the city of Pittsburgh is unhealthy. It is decaying from the inside out.

Homelessness is the norm, not the exception and so is petty crime and the leadership in the city

is denying that this is an issue. In fact, after my story was written, they went on this sort of

verbal rampage about how nothing's wrong with the city, how the statistics say differently

and they pointed to a poll that they commissioned from people that are connected to them to say that
