Karen Reid. It's almost poetic how in a trial packed with accusations, finger pointing,

and social media noise, it was a silent frozen cell phone that ended up doing the loudest talking.

If you were looking for a dramatic turn in the Karen Reed trial today, well, it certainly

gave us some twists.

It didn't come from some fiery witness shouting from the stand.

It came from a forensic nerd with a laser pointer, a couple of maps,

and some data that might just might punch a giant hole straight through the defense's theory.

Prosecution expert Ian Wiffin, a digital forensic analyst from Celebrite,

the people who basically live inside your phone's

brain, took to the stand this morning and walked the jury through exactly what John O'Keefe's

cell phone was doing the night he died. Spoiler alert, it wasn't moving. According to Wiffin's analysis,

sometime around 12.24 a.m. O'Keefe's phone

hitched its last ride over to 34 Fairview Road. The house were a boozy gathering of off-duty

cops and their friends were allegedly happening. But here's the thing. After it arrived,

the phone did not go inside the house.

It didn't move up the driveway. It didn't even take a stroll to the back patio for one of

those late night beer and hand smoke breaks. No. It pretty much stopped dead. About 30 feet

from the front door, right near the flagpole, in the snowy yard,

and it stayed there for hours until sunrise, until someone found it by his body.

Now, you might think, okay, maybe the phone stayed out, but John didn't. Maybe he dropped

it, right? Maybe wandered off without it. Fair question. But Wiffin didn't stop at the location
