memory I have seared in my mind is going to Blockbuster Video or Hollywood Video. I guess it would

have been Hollywood Video. And when I lived in Fair Oaks, California with a friend and we rented

blank check, which was just one of my absolute favorite

amazing movies. I guess I'll be excited to show it to my kids one day. So when I got a request

to have Karen Duffy on the podcast who'd written a stoicism-inspired parenting book. I was

interested, because obviously I'm interested in the connection of me and stoicism and parenting, but then I saw that this is the, one of the stars of

Blank Check and my two weird threads of my life came together.

They came together in a third way when we recorded this and she was having trouble getting

on Zoom or something and Bill Murray popped

in the frame because she was recording it at his house. Just a surreal series of events. This is an

excerpt though, Heron and I talking about parenting some of the Stoic inspired ideas in her book,

Wise Up, Irreverent Enlightenment from a mother who's been through it. She talks about how her

relationship or understanding of the Stoics has impacted her it. She talks about how her relationship or

understanding of the Stoics has impacted her parenting. She talks about being supportive of your

kids, but not muscling your way into what they do and the power of valuing relationships

and how to value people and see things clearly. I think you're really going to like this.

There is a ritual that we have going on in our house, either when we get back from our walk in the morning or as soon as I get home from writing for the day,

I walk over to the counter and I go, guys, it's time for your vitamins.

And my youngest son, who's two, he rushes over.

I give him two high of vitamins, one for him.
