Hello, thanks for joining me today for Give Him 15. The title of our post today is Just Like Caleb.

The great Old Testament warrior Caleb was the partner of Joshua. Of the 12 spies, Moses sent on a reconnaissance mission into Canaan,

they were the only two that brought back faith-filled reports. Not only were they men of

great faith, they were men of great patience. We'll get to that momentarily.

The scriptures tell us a remarkable five times that Caleb followed the Lord fully.

Numbers 1424, 3212, Deuteronomy 136, Joshua 14, 8, and 14, 14.

The first reference, Numbers 1424, says,

But my servant, Caleb, because he has had a different spirit and has followed me fully,

I will bring into the land which he entered,

and his descendants shall take possession of it. The context of this verse is Yahweh telling Moses that the unbelieving Israelites would not be allowed to enter the promised land.

Of the generation that was delivered from Egypt, only Joshua and Caleb would be allowed to do so.

Not only would Caleb's faithfulness be rewarded personally, but his descendants would also be rewarded

and take possession of the land. This is a beautiful picture of how our faithfulness blesses

the coming generation. Caleb had to wait 45 more years before beginning the campaign to take his inheritance.

The war to conquer the land took several years, and some believed Caleb waited five years of that time before he actually was able to possess his mountain hebron, making his total wait time 50 years.

That is a lot of time to hang out with the lack of faith, folks, waiting for them to die

off so you can possess your inheritance. Must have been very challenging for Joshua and Caleb

to do so with good attitudes.

Other great leaders in Scripture had to wait for their promises to materialize.

Moses waited 40 years in the desert before God resurrected his calling.

Joseph waited a good while,
