Hi, this is Lucy, and my guest today is June Lockhart,

known to millions of TV viewers as the mother of young Timmy in the ever popular Lassie series, a role she portrayed for six years.

However, when the format of the series was changed and she was freed of her contract, she found it was kind of nice to stretch her acting muscles in other directions.

And I might add that those acting muscles are part of her heritage,

for June was born into a theatrical family. Her father, the late Jean Lockhart, and her mother,

Kathleen, were both noted performers in the theater and motion pictures. June, you beautiful

doll, it was very nice of you to come over today. Oh, it was my great pleasure. Thank you.

I have never had a chance to talk with you.

Oh, I'm so glad that you're on radio now because after all these years now, we can finally sit down and gossip and gab.

I have said many times to my radio listeners that it really was an important factor in my wanting to go on radio

because I get a chance to talk with people that I never would,

and I've never done more than say hello to you in all the years that we've been around.

You've always, oh, kind of amazed me, however,

because just from reading about you and watching what you have done with your life,

the decisions you have made, even without knowing you intimately,

I have always been amazed by your good common sense.

Oh, what a lovely compliment.

Well, but when you're noted for six years at least worldwide for being very common sense

and the mother of Timmy and, you know, connected with the lassie pictures, I suppose it is
