A juicy story from Josh Dossi, Ileana Johnson, and Alex Eisenstadt. Rex Tillerson blew up at Johnny DeStefano, the director of presidential personnel. Tillerson is a bit upset about his staffing decisions.

DeStefano is a former aide to House Speaker John Boehner and knows the players in Washington as well as anybody.

But Tillerson didn't want him having any say over State Department employees.

The Politico Trio who wrote that story said Jared Kushner told Tillerson's chief of staff that the outburst was very unprofessional.

Last night at the RNC fundraiser, Donald Trump

laced into CNN and House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi. By the way, do you think lambasting Pelosi

all the time is going to get him a bipartisan deal on anything? Jen Habercorn, Josh Dawsey,

and Burgess Everett report that the Republicans are adding nearly $45 billion to the health care bill

to address the opioid crisis, and they're in near agreement

to allow health savings accounts to pay for premiums. It's unclear, though, whether this will secure

enough votes to move the legislation through the chamber. They hope to vote on the bill in the next

three weeks. John Bresdenhan and Sungman Kim report that Rob Portman blew up at Mitch McConnell

in a closed meeting, saying the majority leader has overreached

in writing the health care bill. A fascinating Jennifer Steinhower story in the New York Times,

she reports that the Trump administration has not reached out at all to moderate Democrats they

might be able to work with. A must read from the Boston Globe's Annie Lindski. She unearthed a gushing

letter Seth Moulton wrote Nancy Pelosi before he became one of her sharpest critics.

It shows Congressman Moulton's shifting allegiances as it becomes a prominent House Democrat.
