He's the kind of guy that you don't know his name, but once you see him or hear his voice,

you just keep seeing and hearing him everywhere.

Steve, it's fantastic to have you on the podcast today, so thanks for joining us.

My pleasure. Absolutely. You guys are talking to me from one of my favorite places on Earth.

I grew up in Colorado.

That's right. Actually, let's maybe start there. I saw that you were born in Colorado.

So, yeah, talk about your growing up years out here.

Well, I was born in a fatal car crash outside of Walsenburg.

And then I spent the first 10 years out on the plane in Ray, which has probably had a

real influence on Red Hallard, because that's about as country as you can get out there.

And Ray, I'm the middle of a great plane.

Alright, let me take you back to the very beginning, Steve.

You said you were born in a fatal car crash?

Yeah, yeah. It's a really great first chapter, not a biography.

If I were doing anything important, my mom was coming back from a dance in Fort Orleans.

She was a poker musician, her father was a Croatian coal miner, Donald Walsenburg.

She grew up playing piano and saxophone.
