Hello, it's Thursday the 8th of July and thanks for joining me for the latest on travel and destinations from the Green List and the travel desk of the Independent.

Well, what a day when Amber turns green. I've got all the details of the new vaccination vacation plan, as I call it.

after other countries started allowing vaccinated travellers to avoid the most onerous travel

restrictions, the UK says it's going to catch up on the 19th of July. Yes, that's a week on Monday. But initially,

the chance to avoid quarantine from so-called Amber List locations will be limited to British

residents. Just a reminder, Amber List, which includes the vast majority of popular holiday

destinations, including France,

Italy, Greece, mainland, Spain, Portugal, and the US requires 10 days of self-isolation when

you get home. And it means that for most people, that's an effective travel ban, not just for

those of us who simply want to go on

holiday, but also people who are desperate to see loved ones or make business trips. Increasingly,

they are wanting to get abroad with relatively little hassle and expense. So we've now got

a scheme of sorts from the 19th of July, which

of course is opening day domestically. It's also going to be the day from 4 a.m. when if you

turn up and you've been to an amber country, it won't matter because you will, if you've been lucky enough to be jabbed,

be able to demonstrate your immunity status and that means that you will be allowed in.

You'll still need to take tests as far as I am aware and I'm still waiting for the absolute

detail from the Department for Transport. You will be effectively, the Amber List

joins the Green List from the point of view of somebody who has been jabbed twice by the NHS.
