You know, in the Bible, this is what songs do. They recall the past to interpret the present and

anticipate the future. And I think our best hymns do that too. They'll do those same things.

Sometimes these features of like the Exodus and Conquest, they get picked up in the prophets.

And I'm thinking of Isaiah 52 verse 12, where he says, you shall not go out in haste.

You know, we just seen they passed over in haste here in Joshua 4.10.

What is up with that? I'm not even assigning my own book. Yeah, but you only have one. I also learned

you're assigning the book, What is a Healthy Church? So let me ask the question. What does what is a healthy church

have to do with Old Testament 1? And why would you assign it? Well, as I explained to these

18 to 22 year olds who are in my class, the most important thing you can do to learn the Bible

is to commit yourself for a lifetime to a healthy local church that's faithfully unfolding

God's word to you week by week

through expository preaching because in this class, you know, we have 15 weeks together for me

to teach you, you know, one half of the Old Testament. There's no way I can give you all of the

details and cover the full counsel of God in these 15 weeks. But if you unite yourself in membership
