Hello book casers and hopefully some horror literature lovers.

I am Kate Gibson.

And I'm Charlie Gibson.

Welcome you back to Kate's House of Horrors as she continues to try to convince me that the horror genre really contains some fine literature.

And he continues to silently scream.

Well, I guess I'm being brought slightly kicking and screaming into this, but maybe that's because I'm scared.

Kate has gotten me to read a number of now of what are called horror books.

I still don't like the nomenclature. I would

call them dark fiction or books of dread, maybe. But the authors make a good case for them,

and you'll hear an interesting case being made for the genre today. We're going to talk to

Josh Mallerman, and he has written a series of books. We'll talk a little bit about the plots of his books because we do in this conversation.

And you should have some background as you listen to us talk about his books.

But I'm fascinated by the way he wrote.

We've talked to so many authors who have you had different approaches to how they write.
